Jeff Whitaker is Director of Bands at Permian High School. He is in his 20th year of teaching and his 9th year at Permian High School. While at Permian HS, the MOJO Band has been a UIL Area and State Qualifier. The band has been named a Bands of America Regional Finalist the past 3 years and was named a finalist at the Duncanville Marching Invitational this fall. The Permian Band has earned the UIL Sweepstakes Award each year he has been the director. In addition, the Permian band has grown into 4 concert bands, all of which received division one ratings for their concert performances the past 4 years. The Symphonic Band has been recognized nationally including a Featured Performance at the 2019 Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis. Mr. Whitaker is the 5th director in the history of the school and is an adjudicator and clinician in Texas and New Mexico. Prior to his position at Permian, Mr. Whitaker was the Director of Bands at Monahans High School for 8 years. His Monahans bands qualified to the UIL State Marching Contest three times and was third place in the Texas Honor Band finals in 2007. Mr. Whitaker began his teaching career at Lee HS in Midland, TX where he worked with the legendary Randy Storie. Mr. Whitaker is in his 5th term as President of Region 6 of the Texas Music Educators Association. He also currently serves at the Region 6 Representative for the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Whitaker also is a member of the Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Mu, International Bandmasters' Fraternity, an honorary fraternity for band directors.
