Daniel Ward
Director of Woodwinds & Jazz
Daniel Ward is in his third year at Permian High School and fourth year of teaching overall. He earned both his bachelor’s (2019) and master’s (2021) degrees in music education and performance from West Texas A&M University. During his time at WTAMU, he performed with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Symphony Orchestra, and appeared at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention and the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Conference.
At Permian, Mr. Ward leads the woodwind program, directs the Concert 2 Band, and leads the "Black Cat Jazz" band, which has earned several distinctions under his direction. The ensemble was named Jazz Division Champion at the Greater Southwest Music Festival and received Division I ratings at the Taft Jazz Festival in San Antonio.
Mr. Ward began his teaching career at Spearman ISD before joining the Permian staff. He is married to his wife, Emily, and they share their home with two beloved dogs—Pepper, a blue heeler, and Toast, a rescue.
