Permian Concert Bands

The MOJO Band divides into 4 concert bands. Membership in each group is determined by auditions, region band participation, participation in private lessons and conduct. The Permian Symphonic Band is considered the varsity ensemble in the spring semester. It has earned a division one rating at every UIL Contest since the school opened. The band was named the Texas Honor Band in 1963 under the legendary J.R. McEntyre and again in 1974 with Mr. Charles Nail. The band performed at the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic in 2008. This past year all 4 concert bands earned a UIL Division One Rating at concert contest.
