MOJO Marching Band

Since Permian opened in 1959, the Permian HS Marching Band has a history of outstanding performances. The marching band is the most visible part of the band program performing before tens of thousands of people each year. The marching band has earned 57 division one ratings since the school opened in 1959. In 1982 the band was named the Texas State Marching Band Champions. Recently the band was named the 2016 Area A Champions. The marching band incorporates all student members and staff in the band program.

Permian Concert Bands

The MOJO Band divides into 4 concert bands. Membership in each group is determined by auditions, region band participation, participation in private lessons and conduct. The Permian Symphonic Band is considered the varsity ensemble in the spring semester. It has earned a division one rating at every UIL Contest since the school opened. The band was named the Texas Honor Band in 1963 under the legendary J.R. McEntyre and again in 1974 with Mr. Charles Nail. The band performed at the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic in 2008. This past year all 4 concert bands earned a UIL Division One Rating at concert contest.
